In a recent interview with Impact Wrestling co-vice president Scott D'Amore, we spoke about which roster members he feels will step up to fill the hole left by recent departures - not least EC3, who recently appeared in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia.

The names mentioned by D'Amore seem to confirm that Impact will be looking to head in a progressive new direction in 2018, in line with their recent management restructure. He listed several newer roster members who could potentially be called upon to carry the company forwards.

'You look at guys like Brian Cage at the last set of tapings, what an unbelievable athlete he is [...] Sami Callihan, who's such a cool, engaging character [...] Dezmond Xavier, who's already been here a little while, and is one of the most exciting and talented performers in this industry [...] Su Yung, what a compelling character she is.'

D'Amore also singled out Rosemary in terms of further success, pointing out that while she may already be one of the most engaging and popular members of the current roster, he believes she is 'ready to step up and do even more'.

We also asked D'Amore about the future direction of Impact in general, specifically the idea of working more openly with other promotions. He explained:

'In 2018 we don't live in a bubble. There's lots of great wrestling around the world with lots of different companies. We want to be inclusive, not exclusive. [...] A rising tide lifts all boats. If the wrestling business is doing well, why don't we all champion each other's success rather than undermining it?'

The beginning of this apparent new era in Impact certainly drew a lot of attention thanks to last week's Impact, where returning company favourite Austin Aries shockingly defeated Eli Drake to become the new Impact Global Champion.

The promotion are looking to hold three pay per view events this year, up from two in recent times. Redemption will take place on April 22nd in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and will join regular annual events Slammiversary and Bound for Glory.

IMPACT airs on 5Spike every
