IMPACT World Champion Johnny Impact and Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Lethal have reportedly agreed to a title vs. title match at some point in the future - although no date or venue have been announced.

According to the

Wrestling Observer Newsletter

, the agreement took place on Chris Jericho's recent cruise - but Dave Meltzer also expressed a degree of scepticism with regards to the match:

'We don’t have the date and place confirmed. Impact and ROH talked about this months ago, the idea of a match with neither title at stake. Right now there is no match time or place and even though there were ROH vs. Impact matches on the cruise, ROH and Impact aren’t working together on anything going forward right now. But so much about the business could change in January and anything could happen after that.'

After previous rumours of a non-title champion vs. champion match, the switch to a title vs. title match seems a rather drastic one. There's every chance, of course, that such a match could result in a draw or no contest, meaning that neither title would switch hands.

Jay Lethal is in the midst of his second ROH World Championship reign, having defeated Dalton Castle in the summer. Johnny Impact defeated Austin Aries for the IMPACT World Championship in the main event of Bound for Glory - a widely-reported match for its aftermath, which saw Aries no-sell the finish and walk to the back, an apparent shoot.

Lethal had a career in IMPACT between 2005 and 2011 but hasn't wrestled in the promotion since.
