Hikaru Shida recently scored a massive victory when she got the win over Toni Storm in the main event of AEW Dynamite 200 to become the brand new AEW Women’s World Champion for a second time.

Although Shida has been the AEW Women’s World Champion previously, having the longest reign with the belt to date, this win is even more special, as she explained in an interview with Denise Salcedo that winning the title in front of fans instead of in the pandemic era led to it being one of the best moments of her life.

“The night was the, I think that was the greatest moment in my life. For me, it’s more important is [it was] in front of fans because the last time I was champion [was] no fans. Actually, I got the title at the first pay-per-view without fans, and I lose the title at the pay-per-view the first week the fans come back. So yeah. When I was champion, all the time is without fans. So I’m so happy, I could hear the cheers of the fans. The moment, that was the best. I felt it was like a dream.”

Shida went on to talk about how it was weird being in front of no fans in the pandemic era, and whilst she could hear support online, it wasn’t entirely the same as hearing them in the arena.
