Wasn't the originally planned finish...

Given Lars Sullivan's designation as a dominant monster heel, one would think that placing him in a three-on-one handicap match against a trio of junior heavyweights like Lucha House Party would be simple to book - steamrolling all three in a "no sweat" squash.

Instead, WWE ran a non-sensical DQ victory for Sullivan at Super ShowDown, with Sullivan laying out all three babyfaces in the post-match anyway.

According to

Dave Meltzer on Sunday's Wrestling Observer Radio

, the original plan was what most would have expected, for Sullivan to squash all three men in order to further build him up as a monster.

However, the finish was changed to a disqualification, possibly because they intend to re-run the match at a later date, either on an episode of Raw, or at Stomping Grounds on June 23. With Super ShowDown being "non-canon" in a sense due to the controversy of the events, WWE may prefer to run the "establishment" victory at a less-controversial show.

Of course, that begs the question of why Sullivan couldn't just squash them twice, or why WWE didn't just leave the match off of Super ShowDown altogether.
