The second half of AEW’s 2022 has been underpinned by a series of backstage incidents, including fights involving the likes of Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, Andrade El Idolo, and the infamous post-All Out locker-room brawl.
For his part in a backstage fracas with Sammy Guevara in August, Eddie Kingston was suspended by AEW. Now, during a recent appearance on the Eat, Sleep, Podcast, Repeat! Show, Kingston revealed what he was recently told by AEW H.R. regarding professional conduct:
"I had an H.R. meeting a couple days ago telling me I can't beat up people in the ring when I want to," Kingston said. "We're all trying to be good. We're all trying to be professional. Their words, not mine."
Backstage fights and disagreements are nothing new in professional wrestling, and Kingston gave his take on the recent turmoil behind the scenes in AEW:
"It's real simple," Kingston explained. "You've got a lot of people back there with egos. Some people believe other people don't deserve to be in AEW, other people do believe they deserve to be in AEW. So when you've got a bunch of guys - men and women - who don't know how to use their words? [chuckles] Things are gonna happen in the back."
