Weeks and months of speculation as to who Cody Rhodes' opponent would be at AEW Double or Nothing ended on Saturday night, with the release of the latest installment of

The Road to Double or Nothing

.

The six minute video solely stars Dustin Rhodes, fresh off his recent WWE exit. In it, he speaks with a bit of regret about the implications and supposed backstory for the match he and his younger brother will be having at AEW's first pay-per-view.

In the video, the older Rhodes talks of Cody and he having a years-long rift that he doesn't understand the source of, while putting over his brother for preparing to take the AEW enterprise to ambitious heights.

One juncture sees Rhodes say, "It sounds to me like Cody is trying to put me out to pasture or something. Good luck with that, little brother.”

At points in the video, Dustin is seen painting a Goldust-like make-up scheme on his face, with red replacing the gold. He explained that the red represented life, while the black stood for death.

It was previously reported that Rhodes' WWE contract lapsed on March 28. His final WWE match occurred all the way back in June 2018 in Champaign, IL, the night before the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. There, he teamed with Chad Gable and Zack Ryder to defeat Curt Hawkins, Mike Kanellis, and Mojo Rawley.
