Drew McIntyre: Vince McMahon & I Were On The Same Wavelength About WWE WrestleMania 36

Drew McIntyre says he was fully supportive of Vince McMahon's decision to still present WWE WrestleMania 36 at the start of the global COVID-19 Pandemic.

As the world began to shut down at the very beginning of the spread of COVID-19 in March 2020, which saw most of the globe go into varying levels of lockdown and social interaction severely limited, WWE made the decision to still put on WrestleMania 36.

Rather than showing the event from Raymond James Stadium, WWE instead presented WrestleMania 36 from the WWE Performance Center, pre-taping the Showcase Of The Immortals and putting it on over two nights.

McIntyre, who won the WWE Title in the main event, fully agreed with the decision, saying it gave everyone watching a form of escapism during a difficult time.

Speaking to Inside The Ropes, McIntyre said: "He basically said what I was feeling already. We were both feeling the same way at the time ‘Mania came around and obviously it was his decision to keep pushing ahead and give the world an escape.

"When everything else shut down, every sport company shut down, every entertainment company shut, we were going to push ahead and I was fully supportive of his decision that, okay, everyone needs an escape right now. If we get to be that escape, that’s freaking awesome.

"If I get to be champion and lead the charge during these difficult times and give people something to tune into when they’re stuck at home, that was awesome. But yeah, he was definitely on the same wavelength that I am."
