David Finlay Out Of New Japan Cup With Injury

on Wednesday evening that David Finlay, a scheduled entrant in the 2019 New Japan Cup, has been forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.

Finlay, the son of veteran brawler-turned-WWE producer David "Fit" Finlay, injured the shoulder at the second night of NJPW-ROH Honor Rising on February 23, while teaming with Juice Robinson in a match against The Briscoes.

After the show,

, "Thanks to everyone for all the positive vibes! I did dislocated my shoulder last night but it’s back in now. I’ll see a doctor when I’m home to see what the damage is but hopefully it’s nothing too serious. Thanks again to everyone. See you in the mountains!"

Finlay was scheduled to wrestle former four-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroyoshi Tenzan in the opening round of the New Japan Cup on March 10. At this time, no replacement has been announced, nor is Finlay's return date known.

The winner of the New Japan Cup will be decided on March 24, and will challenge for Jay White's IWGP Heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden on April 6.
