Two-years after he was forced into retirement due to issues surrounding concussions, SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared by WWE to return to in-ring competition.

Leading neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts, including the likes of Robert Cantu, Dr. Javier Cárdenas and Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher have given the former four-time World Champion their backing for a return - with attentions almost certainly turning to a match at WrestleMania 34. All signs point to the leader of the Yes Movement getting involved alongside Shane McMahon in the Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn match, although we'll have to turn into SmackDown tonight to see what's in store.

In a statement released on WWE.com, it's noted that "Bryan underwent a full review of his medical history and received comprehensive neurological and physical evaluations independent of WWE. He was cleared by each doctor as well as WWE’s Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Maroon." It's been well documented since his retirement was made official how Bryan was able to get the nod from doctors outside of WWE, with the in-house professionals refusing to give him the all clear. That has now changed.

During a stellar WWE run, as well as winning four World Titles, Bryan also managed to capture one Intercontinental Championship, one Tag Team Championship (with Kane), one United States Championship, and a Money In The Bank.

The 36-year-old's last WWE match took place in London, England, when he teamed up with John Cena to take on Cesaro & Tyson Kidd on an episode of SmackDown on April 16, 2015.
