Cody Rhodes' return to All Elite Wrestling has been confirmed for Wednesday 22 September, when he will take on Malakai Black in a highly-anticipated rematch.

Rhodes has not been seen in AEW since Dynamite: Homecoming on August 4, when Black made quick work of the former TNT Champion in his debut. Black would also attack Rhodes following his victory, leaving him laying in the ring when it seemed like Rhodes was about to retire.

Having been absent for over a month, Rhodes' return has now been confirmed, with it announced on this week's AEW Dynamite that he will come back in three weeks to once again face black at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.

Black has tormented Rhodes' family and friends in recent weeks, including defeated Dustin Rhodes on this week's Dynamite, and the American Nightmare will be on the hunt for revenge after the attacks from the relatively new AEW star.

Reports earlier this week indicated that Rhodes was set to return to AEW television in September, while 'big plans' are in place for him on the show.
