It has been a month since Cody Rhodes departed All Elite Wrestling after both sides couldn't agree to terms on a new deal but The American Nightmare's next destination remains unclear.

Rhodes initially looked nailed on to re-sign with WWE but as of last word, negotiations had "hit a snag" and the creative team had been told to hold off on working on a planned match between the three-time TNT Champion and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38.

WWE reportedly originally wanted Cody to return on Monday's episode of Raw from Jacksonville, Florida - the home of AEW - but the show passed without Rhodes making an appearance despite anticipation that he would show up.

This didn't stop WWE from referencing Rhodes during Raw, though.

Seth Rollins went one on one with Kevin Owens on last night's show with the stipulation that the former WWE Champion would replace KO at WrestleMania 38 if he won.

Rollins ultimately didn't win and WWE announcer Corey Graves referenced Rhodes during the closing minutes of Raw, saying Seth's WrestleMania 38 aspirations had been "dashed" and "his dream has become a nightmare", obvious references to 'Dashing' Cody Rhodes and Cody's post-WWE nickname.

This follows references the company made back on February 21 in which The Miz said his WrestleMania tag team partner would be "dashing" before he invited Logan Paul to the ring, and Edge hinted he would face someone "undeniable" at WrestleMania before a match with AJ Styles was booked.
