Last week’s edition of AEW: Dynamite saw one of the best promo performances of the year, as CM Punk and MJF engaged in a 20-minute long war of words.

However, on last night’s Dynamite, Punk fought Lee Moriarty who has no ties to MJF or The Pinnacle, and some on Twitter criticised the booking.

One fan in particular spoke of AEW booking matches with no “story or rivalry buildups” and that AEW “pulls names from hats” for opponents to fight the bigger stars of the company.

Punk responded, using the opportunity to take a shot at the WWE:

“Oh maybe we should tag to see if we can coexist.”

WWE has often pitted two warring superstars together in a tag team en route to a protracted singles feud, a trope that divides fan opinion.

Regardless, Punk and Moriarty gave it their all on last night’s Dynamite, with MJF on commentary, before The Pinnacle’s Wardlow squared up to Punk as MJF left for the back.
