After 30 years, WWE held a major PPV event in the UK with September 2022’s Clash at the Castle the first large-scale show on British soil since the legendary SummerSlam 92.
Now it’s been revealed that promoting a major UK show was shrewd business move by WWE, with Clash at the Castle bringing in big money for the company.
As revealed in the third quarter finances and earnings report, Clash at the Castle stands as the most viewed international show in WWE history, and brought in over $8 million dollars in revenue, a significant chunk of the $35.2 million earned from live events in Q3.
Clash at the Castle saw over 62,000 fans descend on Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, on a night where Roman Reigns defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre, whilst Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER and Sheamus had an instant classic.
WWE SummerSlam 92 is still the largest WWE event ever held in the UK, with over 80,000 packing the old Wembley Stadium to see the classic Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog Intercontinental Championship clash.
