BREAKING: WWE Release Enzo Amore

WWE have officially released Eric Arndt - otherwise known as Enzo Amore - which they announced via Twitter moments ago.

The most recent Cruiserweight Champion was suspended after reportedly being under investigation for sexual assault. WWE's official statement on the matter reads:

'WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended.'

This came in the wake of the accusation made by a woman on Twitter, who came forward on Monday and wrote that the incident occurred in an Arizona hotel room in October 2017.

, Phoenix police department confirmed that a sexual assault call had indeed been made on October 23rd:

'On Monday, October 23, 2017, at around 2:30pm, Phoenix Police responded to a local hospital for a call of a sexual assault that had reportedly occurred on October 19, 2017 at 401 West Clarendon Avenue. This case is under investigation.'

 has claimed on Twitter that Arndt knew of the accusations, but didn't tell WWE about it.

The New Jersey native signed for WWE in 2012 with no prior wrestling experience, and made his NXT debut in 2013 against Mason Ryan. He wrestled in NXT until 2016, whereupon he was called up to the main roster alongside regular tag team partner Big Cass. He then wrestled on the Raw brand until August 2017 - splitting from Cass in June - when he was moved to the cruiserweight division. He then competed on 205 Live, winning the Cruiserweight Championship from Neville at No Mercy 2017.

He lost the title to Kalisto on the October 9th edition of Monday Night Raw, before winning it back at the TLC pay per view.

It should be noted that WWE did not wish Arndt well in his future endeavours, as they traditionally do when a Superstar is released under normal circumstances.
