Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley spoke on today's WWE conference call about a number of topics, including his reasons for returning earlier this year, future opponents he'd love to face, and the difference between today's locker room atmosphere and that of his previous run.

The former United States and ECW Champion explained that the chance to hold a world title was a big reason behind his return, having missed out on capturing either the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship during his earlier stint several years ago.

Tonight, he has a chance to move one step closer to that goal, as he faces Roman Reigns to become number one contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship - a title defence scheduled to take place at SummerSlam on August 19th.

Lashley also spoke about future opponents he wants to face on the WWE roster, as well as those who have impressed him since returning shortly after WrestleMania. He singled out both Raw Superstar Braun Strowman and SmackDown Superstar Daniel Bryan as two men he'd love to compete against - having earlier cited his own versatility as one of his biggest strengths, allowing him to have good matches with a variety of opponents.

He also spoke highly of a number of Superstars that have impressed him since his return, mentioning the attitude of Finn Balor, the crowd interaction of Elias, and the general impressiveness of current rival Roman Reigns.

When asked about the difference in backstage atmosphere between his previous and current WWE runs, Lashley admitted that today's locker room is more relaxed, especially without figures such as JBL and The Undertaker enforcing a system of respect backstage. However, he didn't see this specifically as a negative, saying that there are pros and cons for both types of atmosphere. He also pointed out that a more laid-back environment perhaps works better in conjunction with today's product, allowing Superstars to go out and put on a family-friendly show.

As mentioned, Lashley faces Roman Reigns tonight on Raw for the right to challenge WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
