One year on from the publication of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Professional Wrestling in Great Britain report, the APPG on Wrestling have provided an update on their work within the industry.

Co-Chairs Alex Davies-Jones MP and Mark Fletcher MP issued the following statement:

"We always said that the publication of the report was the start of the process – not the end. We were overwhelmed by the positive reaction from the British Wrestling Community to the report and we have enjoyed working with and talking to many of you since it was launched.

"Over the last year we have continued to push the recommendations in the report. For the first time ever we held a debate in the House of Commons on British Wrestling!

"We have held meetings with the Department for International Trade which has led to support for wrestling companies working overseas and a promise to promote and support British wrestling companies operating abroad.

"The APPG met with the UK Health and Safety Executive about its potential support for guidance to help increase knowledge and understanding of legal and other requirements in and around the wrestling industry. We look forward to working with them to make this happen.

"The APPG has corresponded with the Scottish Government, Sport England, Sport Wales and several other Government Departments about recommendations in the inquiry which will continue to move forward.

"In the coming year amongst other things we will be holding a review session with wrestlers about the progress and impact of the speaking out movement, visiting a number of promotions and training school in the North of England and the Midlands as well as continuing to seek the implementation of the recommendations in the report.

"But most importantly we look forward to hearing from and working with all of you. British Wrestling is something we should be proud of and as we come out of the covid restrictions we look forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength."
