The Nigerian Drum Fight ended with a brand new Intercontinental champion, as Apollo Crews defeated Big E to capture the gold at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
The finish came after Crews had missed a top rope splash through a table. After Big E followed up by delivering the Big Ending on the dazed Crews, Big E was suddenly attacked by Dabba Kato (whom Michael Cole pretended he didn't recognize). Dabba Kato gave Big E a chokeslam, and then dragged Crews on top for the pinfall.
The win marks Crews' first reign as WWE Intercontinental champion. It's only his second overall title reign in WWE, after holding the United States title in 2020.
Big E's reign as Intercontinental champion ends at 110 days, having won it at a SmackDown taping in December from Sami Zayn (which aired on Christmas night). It was his second reign with the gold.
Pre-shows included, Crews' win marks the thirteenth time that the Intercontinental title has changed hands at a WrestleMania, and the seventh time overall at the last ten WrestleManias.
