El Idolo was reportedly set to close the show

Fresh off of his AEW debut, Andrade El Idolo has a bevy of opponents ahead of him, including AAA Mega Champion Kenny Omega.
Although the two are yet to interact on AEW television, reports have emerged that El Idolo and the Belt Collector were scheduled to have a face-off at IMPACT Wrestling Slammiversary this past weekend, a happening that did not occur.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer newsletter had this to say about the affair:
“The big surprise was at the end of the show where they teased the idea of Omega vs. Jay White. You would end the show with the idea of that match at Bound for Glory, which is a marquee match for people who watch AEW and New Japan, and the idea this match wouldn’t take place in one of those two companies is weird. We don’t know if the match is taking place. What we do know is that Omega didn’t know about White being there before and what they were doing until he got to Nashville.
“The plan was for Andrade to be in that spot, to build a program with Andrade, managed by Konnan, against Omega. They were going to do a six-man tag at the tapings with Omega & Gallows & Anderson vs. Andrade and two others. The first singles match would still be in Mexico City. But in the end, it fell through because Impact and Andrade didn’t come to money terms for the deal.”
Andrade has since unveiled Chavo Guerrero Jr. as his advisor in AEW, with the third generation superstar making his debut this past Wednesday night.
