AEW's Kyle O'Reilly Details What Could Be An Underlying Problem For WWE NXT

As part of one of many changes WWE made to NXT in 2021, the company have pivoted away from primarily scouting independent wrestlers. Instead, Vince McMahon's organisation are focusing on signing developmental talents from outside of the industry through tryouts and the new NIL programme for college athletes.

This could lead to a situation whereby many of WWE NXT's talents don't share a love of professional wrestling like many of their signings during the black-and-gold-brand era and former NXT Tag Team Champion Kyle O'Reilly believes that could become an "underlying problem" for WWE.

"I think people in wrestling are really rare in the sense that you really, really have to love it. I think that might be an underlying problem in this new NXT," O'Reilly said on The Sessions with Renee Paquette.

"There's a lot of people coming in that I don't think really have that true love for it. I'm sure they'll do well, they'll make a big splash, be a big star, and make a ton of money, but at the end of the day, if your heart isn't really in it, I don't know. It's tough."

O'Reilly has since departed WWE and he debuted in All Elite Wrestling in August of 2021, noting he decided to let his WWE contract expire after he heard the company didn't want professional wrestlers.
