Christian Cage has named Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as the two guys he would have loved to have wrestled with had he signed with WWE.

Cage made his surprise return to in-ring action at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble, seven years after being forced to retire due to concussion-related problems. Despite making his return for Vince McMahon's promotion, he opted to join All Elite Wrestling, signing his contract with the company at AEW: Revolution in March.

The 47-year-old's departure from WWE means a host of matches that are now exceptionally unlikely to happen and Cage himself has named two fellow Canadians in Owens and Zayn as the duo he would have most liked to have faced, had he stayed with the promotion.

Speaking on AEW's Unrestricted Podcast, he said: "I would say probably Kevin Owens. I really like the passion that he has. I like the way that he delivers his promos. I think he’s fearless when he delivers his promos. I think that he’s a fearless competitor in the ring as well. I just like his style.

"Sami Zayn as well. I thought, especially this character the way it is now, we could have done some pretty special things. So off the top of my head, I would say probably those two guys."
