All Elite Wrestling have filed to trademark the term ‘King of Harts’, the second time the wrestling promotion has attempted to do so.

AEW originally filed to trademark the term in 2021 with the hopes of using it for the then-yet-announced Owen Hart Foundation tournaments, however they were unsuccessful in their claim.

The name was used by Owen Hart after winning the 1994 WWE King of the Ring tournament, and was a moniker that Hart would use off and on for the rest of his career.

Whereas the first attempt by AEW at trademarking the term would have been for multiple uses, this latest trademark filing - submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office on October 1 - is only listed for use on ‘Shirts; Tank tops; T-shirts’.

AEW have been in partnership with Hart’s widow Dr. Martha Hart for several years, with the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournaments having ran yearly since 2022. The 2024 editions were won by Bryan Danielson and Mariah May respectively, with both winners earning shots at their division’s respective world championships at All In 2024.
